Morphometric parameters and seed germination of Origanum vulgare L. grown in Crimean foothills
Abstract
E. F. Myagkih
The results of investigation shown that the seeds of ÐÂÂÂriganum vulgare L. grown in the foothills of the Crimea are very small (1.8-1.9 mm long and 1.2-1.3 mm wide, weight of 1000 seeds is 0.079-0.089). In the first year after harvest the germination is highest and then it quickly decreases. In particular, the highest level of oregano germination was observed one month after harvesting. Some samples (Nr. 64 and 79) retained high germination potential (according the National Standard of Ukraine) during 6 and 12 months. Further storage of seeds shown significant decreasing of germination.
